TQM Analysis Report
Assignment Brief
As part of the formal assessment for the programme you are required to submit a Total Quality Management in Health and Care assignment. Please refer to your Student Handbook for full details of the programme assessment scheme and general information on preparing and submitting assignments.
Learning Outcomes:
After completing the module, you should be able to:
- 1. Critically analyse the need for care settings to achieve the best possible outcome for service users using a 'Total Quality Management' approach.
- 2. Critically discuss and apply a range of strategic planning models to assess the viability of a health and care business.
- 3. Critically discuss the management of continuous quality improvement in health and care settings.
- 4. Evaluate the use of problem solving, investment appraisal, non-financial and multidimensional models of performance management.
- 5. Graduate attribute: Discipline expertise: Knowledge and understanding of chosen field. Possess a range of skills to operate within this sector, have a keen awareness of current developments in working practice being well positioned to respond to change.

Guidance

Word Count Policy

Students who exceed the wordcount up to a 10% margin will not be penalised. Students should note that no marks will be assigned to work exceeding the specified limit once the maximum assessment size limit has been reached.
Assignment Task
TQM Analysis Report
Compile a TQM analysis report, including a quality improvement and maintenance plan. This TQM analysis should be focused specifically on the quality measures in place for a chosen health or social care service. Detail of the chosen department, service or system should be included in your introduction.
Key Requirements
At this level of study, your ability to communicate complex information and approaches will be assessed. You should take responsibility to identify the service of choice and the direction of your work yourself. You should link your ideas explored in the analysis and associated improvement and maintenance plan to relevant theories and frameworks explored in the module.
Report Structure:
- Current Quality Measures (750 words) - Explanation of the department, service, and/or system you are analysing and the quality measures currently in place
- Analysis of Current Measures (1000 words) - Analysis considering problem solving, investment appraisal, non-financial, and multidimensional models of performance management
- Improvement/Maintenance Plan (750 words) - Plan considering the management of continuous quality improvement in health and care settings
- Theoretical Framework (500 words) - How your plan links to relevant theories and frameworks for TQM
